Mr Tim Williams MBBS MRCS FRCS(Tr & Orth)

Mr. Williams is a full time Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Foot & Ankle injury and pain management. 

Mr. Williams has a private practice based at The Oaks Hospital, Colchester. He is available to see patients on a fee paying basis or those with private medical insurance and is fee assured.

He holds an NHS consultation appointment at Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation trust.

 

Our Story

  ‘C-FACT’ – Colchester’s Foot & Ankle Clinical Team

For the NHS Mr. Williams leads the Colchester Foot & Ankle Clinical Team (C-FACT). This multidisciplinary team spans across the hospital and in the community through the Anglian Community Enterprise to provide as complete a service as possible for the North East Essex population.  They include

He also provides specialist ankle Injury clinics and surgeries to the armed forces, maintaining strong links with Colchester Garrison, Honnington and Wattisham.  Mr. Williams is the Clinical Champion for ESNEFT Veterans covenant.

Mr. Williams is Clinical Governance lead for the department and is the Clinical lead for Foot & Ankle across Ipswich and Colchester.

Mr. Williams is an active member of British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society and European Foot & Ankle Society .  His passion for education and training is fulfilled as elected secretary of the BOFAS Education committee in a second tenure. 

His Background

Mr. Williams career began as a medical student at  the London teaching hospitals of Guy’s and St. Thomas’ in 1994.  After 17 years of training he became a consultant in 2011.  Surgical training exposed him to the skills of many aspects of the profession including Vascular surgery, General surgery, ENT surgery, Urology and Plastic surgery working in and around London. He spent a very busy post working in Accident & Emergency at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, now a level 1 trauma centre.

Mr. Williams took a sabbatical in 2004 to teach anatomy to students at Cambridge University.  He subsequently became a  Specialist Registrar on the East Anglian Orthopaedic Training Rotation in 2005 and from here on completed his general trauma and orthopaedic training and developed his interest in Foot & Ankle Surgery. The rotation saw him working for senior consultants across the region including at Cambridge University Hospitals 

His Senior Fellowship training of 2010-2011 was at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore under the tutelage of Mr. Dishan Singh to whom he remains loyal and indebted for his time and teaching.

Governance and on-going training

Since 2005 Mr. Williams regularly attends Foot & Ankle surgical meetings and conferences throughout the UK and Europe, on occasions further afield.   He also strives to maintain his general skills with revalidation sessions at the British Orthopaedic Association yearly conferences

This is all reflected upon in Mr. Williams 'Annual Appraisal' that saw revalidation with the GMC in 2016.

Mr. Williams convenes the thrice yearly meetings of the East Anglian Foot & Ankle Society in Cambridge.  A gathering of consultants from across the region to discuss the more complex and problematic cases encountered in our practice.

Upon invitation he has attended and spoken regularly at the Round Table of Foot & Ankle Surgeons which gathers experts from across the globe to discuss aspects of the speciality in detail with evidence and eminence based consensus. His transcript of the inaugural meeting in Padua, Italy forms part of a series of clinical updates provided to specialists for the next 5 years at the yearly British Society conference.
